Lndrover 2 TD5 Turbo Lag

Postby jsdawson » 29 Jan 2015 16:45

Good day readers.
No doubt this has been raised in earlier form discussions....
Is there sound advice on eliminating the frustrating turbo lag from my Disco TD5 2005 model?
Also, besides playing with settings, is replacing the actual turbo with another model/brand a possibility?
Your advice appreciated, and thanks for taking the time to reply.

You shouldnt have frustrating turbo lag on your Disco. I assume the car performs poorly at low revs and this is what you call turbo lag ?
Check your air flow meter out : simplest way to do this is to unplug the harness at the MAF. Drive the car with this unplugged. If there is a performance improvement , your MAF is defective.

Check the turbo boost using a plug in diagnostic system : You should be able to get 1.2 bar boost , with the boost starting to build at about 1700 rpm .

If all systems are OK , then an ECU remap will transform the car.
