Hi - it's back to my old problem of overheating and then going into limp mode. I have now had a suspected overheated engine and had the cylinder head skimmed as I was losing a lot of water and no leak was evident. I also had the radiator cleaned out, fitted a fan spacer and a thermostat to read the coolant temperature as it leaves the cylinder head. Hope this is the end of my overheating problems as the vehicle has only a 100000km's behind it. On starting up, I now have a very noisy engine and get the impression I have lost a little power. Do you have to change the hydraulic lifters after skimming the head or can there be another reason for the noise ?
Problem solved - the mechanic did not use the correct head gasket with the result (fortunately) that the valves just touched the pistons resulting in all the engine noise. A little closer would have resulted in serious engine damage.
