Rear bulkead in Tdi hardtop

Postby smurph » 03 Jan 2017 11:02

I have recently aquired a 300 Tdi , 110 hardtop. After driving station wagons I feel a bit cramped. Is it feasable to remove the bulkhead behind the seats so that the seat can be pushed further back?

I seem to recall seeing some South African assembled 90's without the rear bulkhead.

Hi

Contact Pon Steyn Motors off the N2 just prior to Sir Lowry's pass. Arno rebuilds and repairs Land Rovers of all kinds. I'm sure he could give you an answer.

There is a bulkhead removal process which requires a bulkhead replacement support crossmember.

Was used on the Series 3 as well. Pon Steyn is a good option.

Hi all did anyone get any luck with a rear bulkhead removal bar for their defender?
I am wanting to do this on my defender hardtop after owning it for 5 years and finally wanting it removed.
There is a MUD removal bar which allows you to only remove half the bulkhead(down to a smidge above the height of the side boxes ) and it puts a channel type capping on the cut edge
Anyone know where to get MUD stuff in SA?

It looks a very neat but basic bit of metal but they want over R2200 for it which would easily take it up to R4000 on getting it landed in SA...thats a lot of money for a bit metal channel.
SAnyone got anything that is like it with a few pictures showing good pictures of that channel so I could have something made up?
cheers
Andrew

Contact Gary Frank

082 550 9200

Tell him Jakes sent you.

He's a metal fabricator by trade and a Landy nut.

If he can't do the job, I'd say nobody can. He rebuilds and re-skins Defender doors for fun. Seriously.
