Correct Oil for Lt95 gearbox

Postby survival » 25 Aug 2016 02:26

Landy greetings
Gerhard van Der Merwe did a fantastic article on oils on landyonline but mentioned only the R380 gearbox I know theLt95 is another story what oil must be used in main and transfer box's, Gerhard recommended:
Castrol EPX 80W90 GL-5
Caltex Thuben GL5EP 80W90
Shell Spirax ASX 75W90
Habit 80W90
I understand from other sources on net only 20W50 engine oil must be used other landy sites recon 15W40 in main box and EP90 in transfer box others warn against EP90 saying additives attack phosfor bronze parts.

Please help someone

Sorry only saw this now.

I had a '84 V8 Defender Hardtop, with a Lt95 gearbox for about 13 years and only used GTX.

You can use what ever you're putting in the engine as long as it's recommended by LR.

I usually bought my oil in bulk.
