Td5 cutting out

Postby thE Ear » 24 Sep 2015 10:05

hi chaps

cant seem to solve random cutting out. 3 different LR work shops have not been able to solve issue.
there are days I can drive 100's of km's without a problem then the next day after 5km's she will just cut out.
don't have problems starting - she just randomly stalls.

relays all been replaced, earth checked and secured (everywhere) nothing shows on diagnostics even when connected and she stalls.

am out of ideas???

Crank Position Sensor?

I had a similar problem on my Td5 in 2008, it would hiccup and stall every now and then. My indie replaced the CPS and all was well again.

I refer to my post "onreëlmatige sluk" in this regard. We changed the crank positioning sensor (CPS) in George the day before we return to Transvaal and was convinced the problem was solved. Unfortunately nearly 500 km further the same hick-problem repeated itself. And still in the dark!

Good day Gents,

I have the same issue with my 2000 Td5 130! Thus far it has not left me stranded but just returned from Gonarezhou where I had a couple of tense days.
None of the workshops here in the Lowveld seem to be able to get to the bottom of this either.

I shall be watching this thread with bated breath for anyone who can find the solution!

Conversely I shall revert if I somehow stumble on a remedy.

Thanks.

Could be a dry joint on the ECM pc board.

Hey Guys,
Seriously this time... ...Pull all relevant fuses (Big and Small) and check for corrosion or dirt on the contact blades. It's only 12 volt passing through there and any resistance due to corrosion and dirt makes a difference. Hope you come right.

Theo.
