Bye to you all

Postby gerhardlombard » 28 Oct 2010 20:41

Sold my Landy today and bought a Merc 320ML. I guess I will be saying goodbye to all my friends here, and thank you all for the advice and help I got from this forum through all the years. I will surely miss my Landy, and maybe sometime buy a BEST 4X4XFAR again. Landy Love and Luck to you all and especially Brain from Landyonline.

Hello. It is nice to come back to this forum to check on all your Landy issues now and again. Since I sold my beloved Landy, I had some hick-ups :

The guy I sold it to, resold it to a third party, without ever registering it in his name. Great was my surprise when I went to get another car's license, and told to first to pay oustanding licenses AND three fines from Johannesburg. Lesson : Fill in the yellow form, have him sign it and take it to the Municipality YOURSELF!

The Mercedes Ml320 is a great vehicle but also can break down. The conductor plate in the gearbox packed up and I had to get it replaced by an independant workshop for R 9,000.00. Could never get the darn powersteering leak fixed. I sold it after a year, only because it is NOT cheap on fuel.

I bought a BMW X5 3.0 Diesel two months and so far very happy with it, but still can stop myself from checking out any Defender I see.

Greetings

I see your smile Pumba.

I found a Series 2 SW today locally for R17k. Not perfect but as follows :

2 bench seats with jump seats,
2.25 petrol engine running (no smoke)and looks nice
All wiring redone(new LR light fittings)
Doors, air vents tropical roof vents all working
Quite a number of windows cracked
I have no ideas how the yellow and red gear levers work, so i can not check it out
Needs complete spray job
will need 4 new rums
Have back spare wheel bracket, but no bonnet one
Speedo still in mph
Brakes need work, can be seriuos

Any other advise or things I need to be check, and is R17k too much.

Yellow knob when pressed puts the transfer case into 4 WD high range. Can only be disengaged when shifting the red knob into low range and then back into high range.

Red knob when pulled to seat places transfer case into low range and 4wd and towards firewall back into high range 2WD

Hope this helps

Hello there.

So I am really back.

I bought this Land Rover 110 Turbo Diesel recently. It is a 1989 LHD German110 driven overland to RSA IN 1992.

I will post more soon.

Thank you all!!!!
