D2 Td5 wastegate solenoid bypass

Has anyone had the turbo wastegate solenoid bypassed on a Td5 Discovery 2? I have been struggling with this for quite a while now to get it right. At the first attempt the pipe from the wastegate vacuum was simply connected directly to the wastegate as per Defender spec, with the other pipes cut off...

1 or 1.2 bar ?
I am not absolutely sure about the Disco 300 Tdi - but i would be surprised if it was as high as 1.2 .
Anyone else out there who can comment ?
Dave

Dave, sorry, my mistake. I was referring to Td5's, only later saw that the discussion is about the Tdi's.

Re: Route to Kgalagadi

The road to Upington is in good condition, I travelled it a week ago, but BORING. The area had very good rains and the veld is in magnificent condition though, with lots of flowers between Olifantshoek and Upington. Almost like Namaqualand.

Isn't 1 bar for Defender and Disco 1.2bar?

Re: Defender 110 rear sagging

I have been using air helper springs for years now, the same set on both my old D1 and now D2. Works like a charm and keep the rear nice and level, regardless of load. I bought it at Gremeltek, who was in the same building as Roverland in Montague Gardens. Not too difficult to fit yourself if you ha...

Re: Fuel consumption for Disco1 3.9 and 300TDI

George, I had a 3.9 Automatic. Most of the time it carried a roofrack and rooftop tent, which made it heavy in town - 4-5km/l. On long overland trips, loaded to the hilt, it averaged about 5,5km/l. Wonderful car though, easy to drive and maintain, and man, that sound of the V8 was just music!

Re: For Sale: 2004 Discovery Td5 GS AT

Damn! I bought a 2002 D2 XS Td5 ex dealer with 160K on the clock for R150K late December - doesn't have half the kit yours had, anyway, that's the way the cookie crumbles! That is quite a steep price for a 2002, which does not have CDL! My 2004 D2 GS Td5 is also available, if someone is i...

Turbo wastegate solenoid

On my home last night, my Td5 DII, which is normally hassle free, started surging at around 2000rpm, with power also down a bit. Took the car to Marius (Savannah) this morning, who immediately diagnosed it as a faulty turbo wastegate solenoid. A test with a vacuum guage confirmed it, with very errat...
