Re: LR S3 R6 Predicament

Hi The restrictor goes into the return fuel line as to keep pump pressure up, but give the fuel a bleed off as su carbs was not design to handle high fuel pressure. The other thing you must do for your carbs is to set the float levels on your su carbs if you smell fuel when she is running. You can a...

Re: Series 3 stage one

It is a R6 and it has a Santana gearbox in and the reverse is in the top right hand corner of your gear selector. The engine if original is a Austin Princess engine that has a longer stroke than the 2.2 l of the Austin and would give you 2.6 l. If it is the original diesel it is a 3.8 L Perkins 4 cy...

Re: Jumping out of gear on hills.

What we also did if you could not find a locking tab, was to take a oversize washer put on the shaft torque the nut and then bend the washer over the side of nut and hamer lightly with chisel so washer is folded over side of nut. Used to use that trick on Car I had that kept on loosening it sideshaf...

Re: New landy owner with a well aged landy

If it is the standart 6 cyl that the Landrovers came out with it is a 2.6 L block, a strong clunker, thirsty on fuel unless you can get the Weslake-head that had better bore and better consumtion. 6 cylinder petrol There were several versions of the Rover six cylinder engine. Re: New landy owner with a well aged landy

The 700 X 16 tyres will work well and the 750 x 16 tyres will work well if you want to stay with the 16 inch rims. If you go for the 15 inch rims you are going to get bigger tires, but remember if you change tyre sizes you have to do them all at the same time otherwise you are going to dammage your ...

Re: specs for R6 engine

Hey Jakeslouw. Sorry to be a let down but I'm with James21 on this one at the moment. The R6 in its original form is probably one of the rarer production LRs ever built, and i like the idea that mine is fully original. When I bought it I took on a project. If I had wanted a TDi I probably would hav...

Re: LR S3 R6 Predicament

Hi Tanisia. Where did you find the correct head bolts? I have found a new set in Holland which I have ordered but I did so without comparing with UK built Rover SD1 bolts which are readily available in the UK....and far cheaper!!! Any idea if the SD1 bolts are the same? Also, my R6 compression is q...

Re: specs for R6 engine

Hi The R6 landrover head settings for the car engine is 81Nm torque and in the workshop manual for the Landrover engine is 90 nm torque. I would advice take the two settings count them together and divide it by two wich should be around 85 nm torque. The second thing you should do before you torque ...
