R380 gearbox filler plug

Can anyone explain the logic of having a half-inch drive on the transfer box filler plug but a Torx 55 on the R380 gearbox plug?
Is there anywhere else on the whole vehicle that needs a Torx 55?

Re: TD5 removing the EGR

Hi Willie, Where did you get the "large bore adaptor" and what did it cost. I am weighing up whether to make one or buy one. If the price is reasonable I would rather buy as I have other things to do with my time. Our local Indie Landrover man says that changing the intercooler for one of larger cap...

TD5 removing the EGR

I have a 2001 TD5 Defender. I am doing some work on the cylinder head and I have the intention to remove the EGR system. I have read that Landrover, themselves, removed it for subsequent models for the SA market. I don't want the change to be irreversible so I need to buy or make an adapter to go be...

Carrying a spare wheel on a Defender bonnet.

Does anyone know if it is possible to carry a spare wheel on a Defender bonnet - are special bonnets available?
I thought the military should do this.

Re: R6 front axle with CV joints

Maybe I should explain further and also tap into knowledge on the forum. I have a Landrover that has been identified as probably a Stage I, imported from the UK. It looks very similar to an R6, but it has a separate cab and a large bin. Somewhere in its previous history its engine/gearbox was change...

Re: Hanging Doors

By now you have probably solved the problem. I find that the hinges can move around quite a bit once they are loose, so it is easy to get the doors into the correct position. The trick is to get the screws tightened sufficiently to hold them in place. I find an impact screwdriver does the trick and ...

CV halfshafts for R6

I am wanting to fit an LT95 gearbox to a Series III with a Ford V6. The problem is that the LT95 has full-time 4-wheel drive and needs CV joints in the front axle. Someone told me that some R6s came out with a Series-compatible front axle, with CV halfshafts. Has anyone heard of this and, more impor...
