Hi guys.I bought a 78 series 3 swb about a week ago and today my gear lever broke off :shock: I did some reading to find that it is a comon problem. Where can i buy another? and can i weld the old one? I've welded up a few and it works fine. Just do the prep work properly and let it cool down by it...

Hello Mike IIRC the transfer-box ratio on the standard series is 1:1.48, and the Santana box in the Series IIIS should be the same. 4000rpm should get you close to 100kph with 7.50x16 tyres. You might have a low ratio gearbox/transfer-box in the vehicle with the speed you get at 4000rpm. If you can ...

If you want to overland, then I would suggest you build something like this on a 110 chassis. I've started collecting the necessary bits for mine as a future project. This one is in SriLanka.

All the 2A FCs I've come across in SA have been ENV axled, from 28800025B to 28801025C. The 2B front on the 2As here is common, as the SADF issued a directive to change the fronts when a 2A comes in for repairs.
