Re: Series 3 P T O

Yes you will have to choose between the PTO and the overdrive.
I have an extract from a series 2 manual (the procedure will be almost identical for a series 3) that explains how to install a PTO which I can email you next time I am at a Wi-fi.
Just PM me your email address.

Re: Starter motor or ?

Can you hear exactly where the noise is coming from?
What year model is your landy and what engine is in it?
Someone should be able to provide you with a link where you can download the workshop manuals for you Landy. :D

Re: specs for R6 engine

I did a bit more research and it turns out that the UK SD1 was fitted with some type of Triumph engine. I must have got confused by the fact that the SA SD1 was fitted with the R6, my apologies. :? :( However I did come across something saying that the Austin Princess was fitted with a 2.2l early va...

Re: specs for R6 engine

Jakeslouw you are absolutely right it would be faster cheaper and easier to do a conversion, but those precious few of us that still do own complete all original classic Landys would like to keep them that way. The simple truth is that in a few decades original Series Land Rovers will become quite s...

Re: specs for R6 engine

Well I did say I was no expert, but this link seems to confirm what I was saying: http://www.lr-mad.co.uk/en/series-iii-s Look under the comments section where a guy named Charles (who I think might be our very own Tanisia) said the following: RE: Series III S R6 — Charles 2013-01-30 10:26 E6 engine...

Re: Jumping out of gear on hills.

The lock tight didn't hold but I managed to get hold of a new main shaft nut and locking tab from Landyworld in George.

Hanging Doors

Has anybody got some tips on how to hang doors correctly on a series 3. At the moment neither of the doors on my Landy close properly. It looks like they need to slightly rotate clockwise and then be raised up about 1 cm. The hinges are correct for a 3 series and are in good condition. I am about to...

Storage of a landy

In a few months time I am going overseas for 10 months and will have to put my 1978 Series 3, 6cyl in the garage while I am away. Is there anything I should do to it before I leave so that I will be able to start it again easily when I get back? Obviously I will disconnect the battery but should I d...
