VHF Fm Transceiver

I have recently fitted a VHF FM Transceiver in my Landy in preparation for a trip going through Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and then back to South Africa. Can anybody give advice on paperwork/licences required to avoid any unnecessary problems in these countries ?

Re: defender puma engine

Problem solved - the mechanic did not use the correct head gasket with the result (fortunately) that the valves just touched the pistons resulting in all the engine noise. A little closer would have resulted in serious engine damage.

defender puma engine

I have now had a suspected overheated engine and had the cylinder head skimmed as I was losing a lot of water and no leak was evident. I also had the radiator cleaned out, fitted a fan spacer and a thermostat to read the ...

Re: Puma Defender

Time flies and all of a sudden it is 2017. Since my original problem I fitted an intercooler manufactured by Elton. Since then, only on one occasion did the vehicle went into limp mode, again when towing a caravan. This time I had the vehicle remapped by ATM automotive in Hillcrest. So far so good.

Re: Puma Defender

Tell me more about the fan spacer - sounds interesting. Have requested a price from Elton at turbochip for the intercooler.

Puma Defender

While travelling down to CapeTown today the defender suddenly lost power in 6th gear while overtaking a lorry on a slight incline. On gearing down while the vehicle slowed down power returned while in 3rd gear and the Landy accelerated once more. The engine did not cut out . This is worrying as it c...

Re: Rear side shaft

Hi - Thanks for the input. What is worrying is that one does not expect the side shafts to be worn at 55000 km's. The other worry is that nobody in the Western Cape has experienced a similar problem alternatively the workshop foreman is out of touch, or if he is correct, what caused the rubber cover...
