Re: What Tyres to buy

Recently seen Hi-fly tyres at my local dealer (235/85 R16s) going for R1400. The dealer says that he has been selling them for 4 years and had no complaints, comebacks etc. I ended up getting a 2nd hand set of BFs but would seriously consider a tyre at R1400. Any thoughts or comments on these?

Re: vacuum pump welsh plug

Thanks for the response. With your help and and that from George Bosch on the Disco forum, we used a wine cork with some epoxy to block the missing welsh plug. Worked perfectly as a temporary fix. Now have the replacement welsh plug and bolt set from George.

Steinbach Agencies

Just thought I'd share with you our pleasant experience with Boetie Theron from Steinbach Agencies in PE. We had some trouble with timing on the Tdi. He helped us out on a public holiday, very knowledgeable, sorted out the problem, and didn't charge the earth. Having a look at the other vehicles he ...

Re: The Good Samaritan

It seems that Lance is no longer in business? We passed through Graaf-Reinet with a dodgy slave cyclinder and weren't able to reach him or find him. We were assisted by Budcro Mechanical services next door at no 8 Fabriek. Helpful guys and extensive workshop for all manner of repairs. They'll certai...

Biodiesel in a 300Tdi

Hi all Had a trawl through the forum and not much mention of biodiesel use, surprisingly! There is a local company producing biodiesel here in PMB, selling for R11/l which makes this a very attractive option with current diesel prices over R13/l. They are currently using it in BMW's, Isuzu's among o...

Re: My 110 year unknown

AFAIK Leyland, South Africa stopped production in 1984. You may have roll up windows off a later model defender on your 110??
